Whichever works.
As an avid gamer and AI enthusiast, I’ve recently found myself immersed in the world of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Small Language Models (SLMs). However, my roots as a gamer always bring me back to the joy of playing with friends, especially when it comes to the latest installment of the FIFA series, FC 24, on my PS5. The Ultimate Team game mode has been particularly engaging, as I spend hours collecting and building my dream squad.
But there’s something special about the thrill of competing against another human player (no offense, AI!). This experience is elevated to new heights when you can share it with your friends. Unfortunately, my friend Trix and I recently discovered that FC 24 doesn’t support cross-play between PS4 and PS5, which put a damper on our plans to play together seamlessly.
Not one to be discouraged, I came up with a solution: downloading the game on Steam to play on my workstation. Although some suggested installing the PS4 version on my PS5, I saw this as an opportunity to test the game’s performance on a rig primarily designed for GenAI tasks, and of course, for gaming.
With the game installed on my PC, I was eager to dive into the virtual pitch and experience FC 24 from a new perspective. However, to my disappointment, even with the game running on my PC, Trix and I still couldn’t play together due to some issues.
Not wanting to waste more time, I returned to my PS5 and installed the PS4 version of FC 24. To my delight, the solution worked perfectly! Trix and I managed to play three intense matches, and it was an absolute blast—the gameplay was smooth, the graphics impressive, and the sense of competition unbeatable.
Although my initial attempt to play on my workstation didn’t pan out as planned, I’m thrilled that we found a way to enjoy FC 24 together on the PS5. Sometimes, the simplest solutions are the best ones. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some more matches to win and bragging rights to earn!
